Divine Connection

The idea sounds amazing but, quite frankly, it may seem out of reach for us, as mere humans.  Have you ever considered yourself a divine being? That your life is more significant than you are able to see with human eyes? Have you ever considered that you were made for something bigger…to live a grand story?

As I reflect on my “second half of life” as Richard Rohr puts it, I’m beginning to find the courage and humble confidence to believe that my life actually matters.  This year, my “word” is CONNECTION.  I’m really not a “word for the year” fan, but occasionally, a word of inspiration comes to me. It is a real-time connection with my higher power, who I name as Jesus.

Connection with God, others and ourselves is truly a mystery.  The Divine Creator created you and me in His image.  I’ve spent so much of my life being my worst critic, my own arch enemy in some ways and I’m NOT having a good time!

Are you Ready?

I am ready to live out what I believe…that I am a child of God, loved and forgiven.  I don’t have to “hustle for worthiness” or strive to gain God’s attention any longer. We have been freely given His grace and compassion.   We have been called to a grand purpose and we’re connected with saints throughout history who are also “stars” in HIStory.

Are you ready to deepen your love and acceptance of yourself as Your Creator has already done?  Maybe 5%, 20% or 50% more than you do today?  Are you willing to receive the grace and understanding that you believe others are worthy of?  How well do you know yourself? Your story? The unique qualities you possess… your vulnerabilities, your needs, your hopes and dreams, what angers and scares you?

The thing is, we must establish and nurture connection with ourselves before we can deepen authentic relationship with the Living God.  If we don’t learn to show up in our True Self, we tend to bring a False Self, a Pretend Self to our prayer, worship, service and spiritual practices.

True Wisdom consists of two things: Knowledge of God and Knowledge of Self
